My first visit to China, to the Key Laboratory in Changchun in 2004, was to help with the newly established Journal of Bionics Engineering. Over the next four years I helped editing the journal, gradually building trust and friendship with the members of the laboratory and attending annual meetings there. It was an easy journey – Professors Ren, Li and Tong were so welcoming of both me and my wife. Relatively soon the relationship expanded into the formation of a society of bionic engineering. Congratulations on10 years International Society of Bionic Engineering!  When I became a member of the board on the 3rd Int. Conf. in Zhuhai September 2010 nobody could foresee such a success we look at today. I am particularly proud to see China in 2020as the world leading country for bionics/biomimetic research. In my opinion, the most important, most innovative and with the most practical applications in the world is bionic engineering. Brought to the rank of art by ISBE. The 10th anniversary of ISBE is a testament to the hard work of the enthusiastic team that has raised also the journal's standards year after year. Until 10 years ago, I applied in the field of biomaterials, food supplements, orthopedic prostheses, interfaces with implants "green" principles.
